Return to Capri, Italy

During our summer vacation we were able to visit Capri for the second time. We took a tour from our ship to the island. A bus took us to Ana Capri and after wandering around we returned to Capri on the funicular. This painting came from a photo I took on the way down on the funicular. I attempted to capture the sunlight on the mountain and foreground. It was hot and humid but a beautiful sunny day.

Return to Capri, 16×20 inches, Oil on Linen, 2024

The first time we were in Capri in 2018 we had an absolutely phenomenal tour guide. His name was Stephano. He was immensely knowledgeable and knew every possible shortcut to maximize our time and the experience. Upon our return to Capri this past July we were completely taken aback when we ran into him on the hydrofoil going back to Capri with another tour group! Its a very small world and we really enjoyed seeing him again even if it was just for a few moments!

I’ll provide a few stages in the painting process and the reference photo.
