Nubble Light Late Afternoon

We have visited Nubble Light, Cape Neddick and Ogunquit, Maine many times. Last fall I took several photos during a perfect sunny afternoon and decided to paint the lighthouse. If you haven’t visited it the lighthouse is on a small rocky island and is not accessible except by boat. I chose to eliminate the fence and a second smaller out building to simplify the composition.

The water in the channel between the little island and mainland was pretty choppy. The colors of the water was various shades of ultramarine, cobalt and indanthrone blue.
